The iHoops Court Refurbishment program has made its latest stop – this time deep in the heart of Texas.
On March 14, 2011, members of the iHoops staff were in Houston as part of the NCAA's community initiative "68 Court in 68 Days." There, iHoops helped upgrade an outdoor basketball court at Moody Park north of downtown. Together with volunteers from the local YMCA, iHoops staff cleaned up the court, installed trash cans, laid down new mulch and picked up litter.
As part of the clean-up, the Moody Park court will be re-painted and new park benches will be installed at a later date.
During their trip to Houston, iHoops staff members visited the local Salvation Army/Boys and Girls Club. There, the boys and girls tried out the iHoops Skills Challenge course and participated in a clinic run by the iHoops staff. iHoops also donated 10 official iHoops/NBA Spalding basketballs to the club.

iHoops will be back in Houston on April 3rd, Final Four weekend, for a dedication ceremony of "Tyler's Court" at the Houston's M.D. Anderson YMCA gymnasium. iHoops' athlete and coach instructors will hold a skills clinic following the dedication.
The dedication is in conjunction with the Tyler Ugolyn Foundation, named in honor of the former Columbia University player who was a victim of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The Tyler Ugolyn Foundation provides support through court refurbishments, character-building educational programs and skills clinics at no cost to urban communities.
iHoops also refurbished a basketball court in Los Angeles in 2011 during NBA All-Star weekend.
