San Diego will play host to a historic college basketball game aboard an aircraft carrier in November, and the event will be preceded by a two-day coaching clinic.
The Carrier Classic World Coaches Clinic will also take place on the USS Carl Vinson, and is scheduled for November 10-11. It will take place just before the Carrier Classic game featuring North Carolina and Michigan State, which tips off at 4 p.m. on November 11.
The clinicians will include NBA, college, high school and international coaches and will feature tips on shooting, offensive and defensive sets, out-of-bounds plays, motivation and mental toughness.
The clinic will feature a Thursday night clinic session followed by a coaches' social on November 10. It will then continue on November 11 with a clinic session in the morning before the big game Friday afternoon.
As an extra incentive, all coaches who are attending the clinic will be entered into a lottery to win tickets to attend the game. There are 400 tickets set aside for clinic attendees. The setup of the court on the carrier is expected to allow about 7,000 spectators for the game.
