Some top teams and great talent will be playing this weekend at The Battle for the South tournament that will be held in Jackson, Miss., starting Friday.
The Battle for the South is fast becoming one of the premiere events to kick off the summer basketball season in the South.
This year's field includes 135 teams from Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee, and Oklahoma and will see over 265 games to be played over the weekend. The event will include eight boys divisions: 10-under, 11-under, 12-under, 13-under, 14-under, 15-under, 16-under, and 17-under and the home base for the tournament will be the state-of-the-art Mississippi Basketball & Athletics Complex.
Previous Battle of the South Classics have hosted some of the best AAU traveling teams and players in the country over the years, and this year's tourney is no exception. Notable teams and players expected to participate this weekend include:
