About this event
Join us for a full day workshop where you will learn about the process, methods, and techniques for painting watercolors in Plein Air. Simply stated, painting your picture outdoors on location. Participants will review values, color, composition, atmospheric perspective, and edges while observing the scene on site. Techniques covered include mixing color, wet into wet, wet on dry, dry brush, layoring, spattering, glazing, blending, applying details, and more. Students will explore techniques for painting skies, trees, flowers, rocks, water, grasses, and figures that appear in our landscape. IMPORTANT NOTES: -This workshop is open to beginner and advance students. No experience necessary! -It is recomended you bring a lunch or snack and something to drink. There will be time during the workshop to break for food. -While most of the basic supplies will be provided, please bring a beach chair or other ourdoor seating as we will be working outside as weather permits. Instructor: Sephen Burke Stephen has been painting watercolors, pastels, oils, and plein air painting around the world since 1996. He has studied with the artists at the famed Cape Cod School of Art and many of the top artists internationally. His paintings are in many private collections, Veteran Homes, and Museums. During the winter and spring, Stephen teaches pastel painting at the Delaware Art Museum. Stephen regularly exhibits his work in various events in DE, PA, NJ, MD, and VA. His paintings have appeared in a number of local publications. Stephen resides in Hockessin with his wife, Anne and his cat, Chirps.
