Learn the tecchniques, history and concepts behind the unfired ceramics surface decoration technique called sgraffito (where the artist scratches through a layer of slip or underglaze to reveal the bare clay beneath) in this unique ceramics workshop! Using instructor provided ceramic tiles, students will experiment with sgraffito techniques on a test tile and then create a final tile design of their own to be fired and picked up at a later date. IMPORTANT INFO: -Tools and materials will be provided, but students are welcome to bring any tools they would like to try of their own. -Due to the firing process of ceramics, all pieces will be ready for pickup within 1-2 weeks of the workshop at the CCArts main office. -Our ceramics studio requires the use of stairs at this time.
