About this event
Metal Tooled Gift Boxes and Ornaments (1 session) High School to Adult | Beginner to Intermediate Instructor: Juliette Montague Saturday, December 12 10:00am – 2:00pm In this class we will explore how to alter Altoid Tins using metal tooling repousse techniques to create new individualized tins for gifting, sewing kits, card holders, paint kits-whatever you may imagine! You can also create metal-tooled ornaments in the workshop. Metal Tooling is the process of decorating or creating texture on thin sheets of metal, often using various tools to press, shape, and imprint patterns or designs. Repousse is a technique that involves raising the metal from the back side to create a 3D design. Both techniques trace back to ancient civilizations like the Egyptians and Greeks, making them a great way to combine art and history. We will be using 36 gauge aluminum and a variety of tools and techniques. The instructor will be providing all supplies including the Altoid Tins. FEE: $60 Painting/Drawing Classroom, 2nd Level All materials included in class fee Image Credit: Juliette Montague
