About this event
2nd & 3rd Graders, Thursdays, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. $110 Regular $99 Reduced for students regularly enrolled in Summit Afterschool during this class March 12, 19, April 2, 9 No class March 26 Led by Chris Culp, Director of Technology at Summit. While the SEED Center will not open until August, this class offers 2nd and 3rd-graders a unique perspective on Summit’s newest building through a series of fun, hands-on activities. Students will adopt a builder’s mindset to explore how the building was designed and is being built. Study professional architectural renderings and discover what’s hidden behind the walls, from plumbing and pipes to electrical and HVAC systems. Join special guest Mr. Dalton to learn about the building's solar array and how math and grids help explain how kilowatts power the center. Participate in a special Q&A session with Blum Construction and Summit’s fundraising office to learn about the real-world process of bringing the SEED Center to life. Consider how the outdoor environment and landscaping complement the building's mission. This class will not include physical access to the building. It will not open for children until August.
