Bring the family on a 1.5-mile hike to the site where Forest Preserve District staff unearthed the remains of a woolly mammoth. Hear how the skeleton was discovered and learn about the natural history of mammoths and mastodons. Ages 5 and up; under 18 with an adult. Free. To register by phone instead, call 630-850-8112.

Meet at the McKee Marsh parking lot, which is on Mack Road just east of Route 59. Park in the west lot. Dress for the weather, and wear shoes for wet or muddy trails.
