About this event
Calling all aspiring young chefs! Get ready to roll up your sleeves and dive into the delicious world of culinary arts. This program introduces you to the fun and creativity of the kitchen while teaching essential skills you can use for life! Throughout the week, you will have the opportunity to prepare delicious and healthy dishes while exploring the fundamentals of cooking in a safe, hands-on environment. From mixing and chopping to measuring, stirring, and decorating, each day will be an exciting new adventure as you discover what it’s like to be a chef. You will get the chance to participate in the various stages of creating the food - from prep to presentation! At the end of each session, you will gather to enjoy your creations together, discuss the process and ways to improve their recipes. Who knows, there might even be some leftovers to take home! Whether you’ve been helping in the kitchen before or this is your first time, everyone will leave with new skills, increased confidence, an appreciation for healthy eating and where our food comes from. For this weeks' focus we will dive into Canada's rich food culture by preparing classic Canadian dishes from coast to coast, including poutine, pacific salmon, bannock and iconic desserts like butter tarts and Nanaimo bars while learning the history behind each dish and why it's beloved by Canadians across the country. This is a half-day program.
