This workshop will focus on helping students transform their interest in drawing and painting into the expressive medium of monotype and monoprint. Monoprinting is considered the most painterly of all printmaking techniques.
Techniques Covered
· Dark and Light Field Monotypes: Learn the foundational methods of creating images through dark and light field approaches, with illustrative examples drawn from Degas’s prints.
· Trace Monotypes: Explore the process of trace monotypes, supported by examples from noted artists such as Gauguin and Paul Klee.
· Chine Collé: Discover the technique of adhering delicate papers to your prints for added texture and depth.
· Glazing: Understand how to apply layers of color and enhance your prints through glazing methods.
· Printing Actual Objects: Experiment with printing from real objects to create unique, textural effects in your monoprints.
Who Should Attend
The instruction is tailored primarily for students who are new to the Monoprinting process. However, former printmakers seeking a refresher are also welcome to participate and refine their skills.
Materials and Fees
All necessary materials will be provided for the workshop. There is a materials fee of $35.00, which should be paid directly to the instructor.
