We're sorry, but this class is over. The last meeting was Tuesday, July 27, 2021.
The class will take place in-person indoors at the NW DC Campus. Please review our Return to Campus Guide for additional details on our safety protocols.
Whether a novice or an experienced guitar player, this is a perfect class for adults who want to play the blues. Participants learn and perfect the skills needed to join a blues jam, perform at an open mic, or just jam along to their favorite recordings. Concepts covered include the 12-bar blues form, the blues scale, basic 7th chord voicings and accompaniment patterns, picking, lead guitar techniques, working from simple music notation, chord charts and tab, and lots of improvisation.
Please note: Students should have their own electric or acoustic (non-classical) guitar. Participants should have some basic experience with guitar, including a basic understanding of open chords, pick technique, and the ability to play simple songs and riffs.
Participants do not need to know how to read music.
