About this event
What's more socially distant then camping?! This program allows for any/all individuals with ASD to learn the basics of what it takes to camp and be successful while camping. We will spend 8 weeks in the classroom learning basic camping skills and practicing skills: pitching a tent, building a camp fire, basics of being in nature, and other camping necessities. At the conclusion of the camping class, families will be invited to join us on a one-night camping excursion. The excursion IS NOT included in the class and is optional. FACT will not pay for or supply materials for the camping excursion- families will be required to pay for the camp site and bring any materials needed to camp. Who: Middle School and Older (13 and up) Where: FACT Autism Resource Center 3509 Virginia Beach Blvd VB, VA 23452 When: Every Tuesday from March 3-April 28 from 6-7:30pm **** If the program reaches capacity, please still register so FACT can contact you as participants cancel and/or more spots open up! ********** Parents are not required to stay but must have a working contact number on file prior to the start of the program. Due to the nature of this program, volunteers must be able to help with camping basics and be able to initiate and follow specific instruction.
