The Victoria Conservatory of Music Orchestra is a new ensemble designed to give winds and brass students the opportunity to perform in an intermediate-level orchestra. This ensemble builds experience for students looking to audition for GVYO or for those looking to augment their current ensemble work. The Victoria Conservatory of Music Orchestra meets for two 6-week intensive sessions (in the Fall of 2025 and Spring of 2026), followed by performances in Alix Goolden Hall as part of the Junior Collegium and Orchestras concerts.
Winds, brass, and timpani students can audition for the Victoria Conservatory of Music Orchestra and should be playing at RCM 5-8 level. Students who are accepted join the Victoria Conservatory of Music Intermediate String Orchestra, turning the ensemble into a full orchestra. Junior Collegium winds and brass students automatically audition for this ensemble as part of their Junior Collegium audition and receive priority registration. Other open positions are filled via auditions in early October that are open to all students. Students do not need to be studying with a private teacher or be a current Victoria Conservatory of Music student to join this ensemble.
Open positions for 2025-2026: 1 oboe 2 clarinets 2 bassoons 1 French horn 1 trumpet 1 trombone 1 timpani
Audition Repertoire: Students should prepare two contrasting selections to play for the audition committee. Accompaniment is not required.
