Description

Students develop essential visual art skills in drawing and painting through exploration of line, shape, colour, and composition, working with paint, ink, graphite, and pastel to create expressive images. Techniques include shading, blending, colour mixing, brushwork, perspective and composition. Inspired by artists, artworks, and art history, students explore both traditional and contemporary approaches from still lifes and landscapes to more narrative and story-driven images, including figurative and abstract modes of representation. Older students are introduced to acrylic painting and engage with more contemporary themes such as identity, the environment, pop and visual culture, translating ideas into thoughtful, visually compelling work unique to each artist.
