About this event
Description
SculptureStudents create 3D artworks by combining and transforming a range of materials, discovering the special qualities of each, and exploring significant themes in contemporary sculpture. Working in the Arts Umbrella wood shop, students are introduced to safe tool use, and experiment with processes including assemblage, forming, carving, and casting. Fundamental concepts such as materiality, space, movement, and texture are incorporated into the creative process.ClaymationStudents learn to sculpt characters and props with plasticine, developing the model making and animation skills that are unique to this particular form of stop motion animation made famous by Wallace and Gromit. Working at our animation stations to compose and capture frame-by-frame movement, students develop an intuition for the principles of animation, from squash and stretch to timing and exaggeration. Students work with DSLR cameras and the industry-standard software, DragonFrame.
