About this event
This one-semester high school course describes and explains the world God created. Students will learn about mankind's interaction with the world both in the past and in the present. The curriculum addresses two main questions: How has the physical world made a difference in what people have done, how they have lived, and how they live today? How have people made a difference in the physical world, and how are they making a difference in it today? Your high school student will gain a rich understanding of physical and human geography through reading the narrative lessons, studying the maps and completing map assignments, reading about people and places around the world, completing writing assignments and hands-on projects, and gaining a Biblical perspective on world religions and culture. Using Exploring World Geography, Part 2 by Ray Notgrass, we’ll be covering the second semester only. Students will take a journey through the following regions of the world: Asia (with a separate focused study on China) Australia & New Zealand The Pacific Ocean and its Islands North America Central America & the Caribbean South America We will conclude with two engaging units: “People of the World” and “World Geography and You.” 📘 Required Textbooks (to be obtained before the first class): Exploring World Geography Part 2 Exploring World Geography Gazetteer About Me Hi! I’m April Hotchkiss, I’ve been married for over twenty-three years and am a mother of three, all of whom I’ve homeschooled for over fifteen years. Our eldest recently graduated from Liberty University, and I continue to enjoy guiding my younger two through their studies. I’m a lifelong learner with a love for reading, gardening, and sailing. I have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and enjoyed having a hospitality business, hosting guests from all over the world for years —a wonderful experience that deepened my appreciation for diverse people and places.
