About this event
Coaches: Jay Stallings, Kevin Golchin, Drake Fisher, Robert Romano and Theo Vasquez Ready to level up your chess skills this Spring and outthink the competition? This class is designed for experienced players who are ready to move beyond the basics and develop tournament-level strategy, deeper calculation skills, and stronger competitive focus. Led by Coach Jay, recipient of the 2025 Excellence in Chess Instruction Award from the official governing body of chess in the U.S., students train under one of the nation’s most respected chess educators in a focused, high-expectation environment. Participants will refine: - Advanced opening theory and traps - Complex middlegame strategy - Endgame mastery - Tactical pattern recognition - Strategic planning and long-term positional play With an additional 45 minutes of dedicated training (until 4:45 PM), students also explore competitive psychology, tournament preparation, gamesmanship, and proper chess etiquette — all while modeling exemplary sportsmanship. Students receive customized Puzzle Packs tailored to their skill level, compete against stronger opponents, and push their limits in a structured yet energizing environment designed to accelerate growth. Whether preparing for tournament play or striving to master the art of competitive chess, this intensive session is built to challenge and inspire serious players. Important: If your child has not previously participated in our Friday Advanced Chess program, please contact Mr. Romano or the After School Enrichment team prior to registering. This class is intended for returning or coach-recommended players. Spring is the perfect season to sharpen your strategy and make your strongest moves yet. ♟️
