About this event
Taught by Coach Christian from Mulholland Prep The benefits of debate are manifold. Kids learn to research, speak in public, and formulate arguments. The long-term academic benefits are too many to count! This is a year-long activity for 5th and 6th grade students. We'll start off the year learning about debate, working in teams of 3, and participating in intramural debates. Coaches will select students to participate in debate tournaments. Depending on how many students sign up, priority for debate tournaments will be given to 6th grade students. Parent commitment: When signing up for this class, one parent or guardian must commit to attending training to learn how to judge debate tournaments. You may be asked to participate in judging one tournament per year. Parent Training: The exact date is still TBD. Will likely be in September. Golden West Debate League Tournament Dates: TBD, most likely one in November, January, March, and May.
