In this hands-on and dynamic class, we will learn to build madcap devices based on the ideas of cartoonist Rube Goldeberg. Students will use physics, engineering, and art to design and build Rube Goldberg Machines (complex machines to perform simple tasks). This two-week adventure will involve the use of materials to draft, draw, and build wacky contraptions! All the while, students will also learn how to use simple foundational tools such as levers, pulleys, and wedges as they create their own designs. There will be a culminating presentation of each machine where we highlight each group’s zany creation for all friends and family to see.
