The instructor will demonstrate and assist as beginners set up their own worm bins (limit five households – one worm bin per household.) No limit on the number of individuals but they all need to be from the first 5 households to register. Complete with red wigglers! At the next workshop, I returned with my bin and harvested POUNDS of castings, which meant that I'd kept pounds of garbage and newspapers out of the landfill. A month or two later, it occurred to me that with 4 people in my household, my one little bin couldn't keep up, so I contacted Jock and procured 3 more bins. My last harvest netted two 5-gallon buckets of castings! Time to go peruse the seed catalogues! 3) Thanks to worm castings, my tomatoes this year went bananas! My worms process vegetable scraps into a useful soil amendment so much faster than my compost heap. This worm-keeping thing is very satisfying, and using Jock's method there's little effort required.
