About this event
Ever wondered how smartwatches can tell that you’re exercising? How about how non-invasive sensors at the hospital can measure oxygen in your blood? These questions and others will be explored in this course, which provides an introduction to different sensing modalities and how we can design new devices for health monitoring. Students will work through hands-on activities using a variety of sensors, in addition to gaining experience processing data, applying machine learning, and performing engineering design. Both the principles behind these concepts and their practical applications will be explored. Throughout, the course will emphasize principles of human-centered design and equity to further understand the impact of the technology we are using today. After this course, you will have a toolkit of knowledge that will make you see medical devices in a whole new way!
