By the end of this class participants will be able to:  Discuss preparatory steps for backpacking and design a personal preparation plan  Safely use and care for basic backpacking gear  Plan and prepare lightweight, nutritious backpacking menus  Select a route appropriate to the group’s needs and experience  Choose a topic for a mini-workshop on backpacking  Complete all necessary paperwork for taking troop on a backpacking trip (for GSUSA , GSCP2P, and site) Volunteers who have completed Backpacking may backpack with girls, A level first-aider with Wilderness and Remote First Aid must be present on the trip. * Please note you MUST attend the pre-session on zoom. We will cover options of buying/borrowing items needed for course. (Pack, Tent, Sleeping Bag, Pad, Flashlight, Trowel, Water Bottle, Eating Utensils) **The actually backpacking class will meet and hike from NOC's Hot Springs outpost.
