This 12-week entrepreneurship course is designed for learners in a rural Maine context who are interested in starting or strengthening a small business. Meeting Tuesdays, 5-7pm, at the Island Connectivity Hub (43 School St., Stonington). Please note that class won't meet on Feb 17 or April 21 (school holidays). Curriculum Focus: 1. The course emphasizes practical, accessible tools and real-world decision-making, with a focus on locally rooted enterprises, sole proprietorships, partnerships, and small teams. 2. Students will explore the entrepreneurial mindset, assess personal risk tolerance, identify opportunities in their communities, and develop viable business ideas. 3. Modeling, mentorship and networking: students will conduct individual interviews with area entrepreneurs, as well as learn from guest speakers. At the end of the course, interested students can be connected to local mentors and regional business support networks/organizations Tech Skills: 1. Digital and entrepreneurial literacy 2. How to use widely available technology tools, including Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), Canva, and AI programs 3. This class is for ages 16 and up, or by permission of the director. Students taking this course for high school credit can take it on a pass/fail basis and for free.
