About this event
RSVP Encouraged but not required! About the Tour: Steps away from the restaurants and shops of downtown lies the hidden history of Steamboat Springs. Join a Yampatika Naturalist as we explore Steamboat’s Mineral Springs, each with its own history, medicinal uses, and geologic past. All ages are welcome on this tour; however, it is taught at an adult/young adult level of comprehension- young children may find much of the content difficult to understand. This program is offered in partnership with the Tread of Pioneers Museum, and all participants will receive a half-off admission coupon to the Tread of Pioneers Museum. Where to Meet: We will meet in the Steamboat Art Depot Parking Lot (1001 13th Street) at 8:50am. What to Expect: This walk is broken into two segments. The first hour covers ~1 mile and is mostly flat along city sidewalks. The second optional trek to Lithia Springs covers another mile and has some elevation gain through residential streets. What to Wear/Bring: This is a casual walk. Wear comfortable clothes and shoes for 1-2 hours outside. Be ready for what the weather brings for the day- sun protection such as a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen is recommended. UV rays are much more powerful at our elevation, so even two hours is enough to cause sunburns and sight damage. Ensure you have a water bottle and any medications you may need, including epi-pens, with you.
