About this event
Step Team Club - Stepping is the art form of creating beats and music using your hands, feet, and other parts of your body. It is rooted in the history of African American culture while embracing African traditions and history. It is not only a form of entertainment, but it is also an avenue for community building and self-expression through movement. Double-Dutch Team - Double Dutch is a game that originated in black communities in New York City in the 1940s and 1950s that was formalized into a sport in the 1970s and had its first official competition in 1974. The sport requires 2 ropes being held and turned simultaneously by two "turners" on opposite ends of the ropes while a third person jumps in the middle of said ropes. About me: The club is run by YSCP parent Jillian Hyman. She grew up in Brooklyn, New York, where she jumped double - dutch from morning until night time during the summer time and any free time in between. She is an alum of Penn State University, where she was a member and Captain of the Quiet Storm Step Team at Penn State Schuylkill. She loves to share the things that brought me joy when she was growing up with the upcoming generation. She loves all things Harry Potter and going out to eat.
