Description
The Sunshine Senior Center has partnered with the National Council on Aging (NCOA) to launch an exciting pilot program focused on bone health and healthy aging for older adults. Dr. Wojnowich is passionate about helping patients stay active and healthy through every stage of life, with a special focus on injury prevention, mobility, and long-term wellness. During the program, she will share foundational information about bone health and bone density, including screening processes, ways to reduce the risk of osteoporosis, and practical steps that can help improve overall bone health and strength as we age. Following the presentation, participants will take part in a guided facilitation session using research-driven educational materials provided by the National Council on Aging. The day will conclude with a healthy cooking demonstration from Healthy St. Pete, along with delicious snacks featuring ingredients known to support bone health. As part of this national pilot initiative, participants will also have the opportunity to complete follow-up surveys two weeks and eight weeks after the event. Those who complete the surveys will receive a complimentary incentive. This project not only helps participants better understand bone health, but also contributes to shaping future educational programming for seniors across the country.
