This unique mountain bike camp combines fun, community service, and natural resources education for area youth. Campers of all riding abilities will learn the skills needed to improve their riding performance as well as what goes into building sustainable trails through some hands-on community service with the Caledonia Trail Collaborative (CTC). The camp will be led by PMBIA certified mountain bike instructor and CTC Vice President Joe Fox and experienced coach and mountain biker Bryna McCarty. Bryna is a former member of the US Ski Team and has spent over a decade coaching elite skiers. For the past few summers, she has expanded her coaching skills and experience to include mountain bike instruction with St. J Rec and with Kraig Sourbeer's Kingdom Camps. In addition to sharpening riding skills, campers will get the opportunity to be a part of a long-lasting trail project that will be used by hundreds of people. But most importantly... CAMPERS WILL HAVE A BLAST! Important info: Due to the demands put on bikes by the terrain we will be riding, we must insist that campers bring modern "shop quality" bikes that are the proper size and in sound mechanical condition to camp. We recommend bikes with a minimum of front suspension and disc brakes. We also tend to favor "1 by" drive trains. (Just one front chainring) They tend to rapidly increase the learning curve when teaching novice riders as well as the odds of mechanical issues as there is only one derailleur to worry about. Dropper posts are a bonus. If you're unsure about the suitability of your child's bike for camp, or to arrange rentals, please contact Joe at email@example.com Rental bikes can be arranged for an additional cost. With national bike shortages, the time to reserve a rental is NOW. Shortly after registering, we will send you a detailed itinerary of where drop-off and pickup locations will be and what to bring. Monday we will be in St. J and Tuesday and Wednesday will be at Kingdom Trails.
