About this event
Join us for a transformative 11-15 day adventure through Japan! This program is designed for students aged 16 and up who are eager to explore the intersection of marine science, conservation and Japanese culture. This program also you to choose if you'd rather just explore the culture and history of Japan in Tokyo and Kyoto or if you'd also like to participate in hands-on experiences that bring science to life! Starting in Tokyo and Kyoto, we will explore Japan’s rich culture through activities such as traditional tea ceremonies. learning the history of the Samurai and visits to Japan’s historic temples and shrines. Take a trip to Nara, the timeless Japanese city where ancient temples, free-roaming deer, and peaceful gardens create an unforgettable journey into Japan's rich history and natural beauty. After our days in Tokyo, you may either end your time in our program and fly home or choose to join us in Okinawa, a tropical paradise where crystal-clear waters, white-sand beaches, vibrant local culture, and unforgettable sunsets. Join discussions on Japan’s marine challenges, such as overfishing and the effects of whaling, snorkel in the Kerama blue Islands, Visit Okinawa World to explore breathtaking limestone caves, experience authentic Ryukyuan culture, and discover traditional crafts, performances, and local flavors all in one unforgettable adventure. This extension to the program is designed to inspire meaningful engagement with ocean conservation.
