About this event
Join David, a local historian, to learn about Maine’s iconic Acadia National Park. His talk will cover the formation of Acadia’s geological features, the earliest Native Americans who lived off its land, the early French and English settlers, and the subsequent tourists and well-to-do who built mansions they called “cottages” there. And learn about the successful effort to preserve the Acadian landscape and protect its natural resources. David brings history to life with wit and humor, talking about events and people from early American Colonial up to recent times. He tells the stories of the people and little-known events that brought wealth, honor, literary fame, and recognition to the Piscataqua region, Maine, and Northern New England.
