About this event
This course designed to prepare fire and rescue personnel to safely and effectively manage trench and excavation incidents from the moment they arrive on scene. The course focuses on recognizing trench hazards, understanding soil mechanics and collapse indicators, implementing immediate protective actions, and establishing command, isolation, and rescue priorities before specialized resources arrive. Emphasis is placed on responder safety, size-up, risk assessment, and practical decision-making that the first-arriving company must execute to prevent secondary collapses and additional victims. This training equips firefighters with the critical knowledge and confidence needed to stabilize complex trench emergencies and protect both trapped workers and responding crews. Instructor: David Gray Prerequisite: None Equipment Required: None
