The outcome of an emergency scene is often dictated by the initial size-up by the first arriving unit. In today's fire service, often those making the initial scene size-up have limited to no critical decision-making training or experience. This lack of training may result in multiple issues, causing a fire scene to be reactive in nature instead of proactive. This course will provide insights on the decision-making process that should be conducted when observing multiple types of emergency scenes. Students will share experiences, opinions, and strategic thought processes to enhance our abilities enabling us to promote a more cohesive and efficient emergency scene operation.
