About this event
Discover Seward! A Hometown Adventure- Students in grades 3–6 will explore the history, traditions, and leadership that shape the community of Seward through hands-on activities, local stories, and guided experiences around town. During the week, students will take a walking tour of Seward’s historic courthouse square, learn about the town’s historic homes, and visit Liberty House to experience what life in Seward was like in an earlier era. They will also discover Seward’s tradition as Nebraska’s Fourth of July City through a creative art activity and learn how local government works by participating in a mock city council meeting as “Councilmembers for a Day.” These experiences will help students understand how communities grow, how history is preserved, and how local leaders help guide the future of a town. *Off Campus Travel Permission Required* Teacher: Zane Francescato is an amateur historian who takes pride in calling Seward his adopted hometown. With experience in government and economic development through his work with the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and service on the Seward City Council, he is excited to lead engaging sessions on Seward’s historic downtown district!
