It’s a dream! It’s summer in Athens, California, a small suburb just outside of San Diego, and the grueling heat, controlling parents, and societal expectations are making the local teens come out of their skin. Two groovy kids, Obie and Tati, have made it their mission to make summer unforgettable in one night. They plan to throw a party that will bring together everyone — preps, goths, even the theater kids. But a spiked punch bowl, love triangles, and Obie’s mischievous little sibling, Pip, are going to turn the party into something way more than just a fun summer night — it’s going to be a dream. A modern retelling of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, This Summer is Mid is a brand new play by New York City-based and Seattle-raised playwright Aliza Jane Cosgrove, specifically written for the exciting merger of ACT and SSC. This fun and fast-paced production class offers up hilarious characters, modern day magic and delightful mayhem, and it all culminates in a performance in ACT’s Bullitt Cabaret for family and friends.
