About this event
Students will take inspiration from the outdoors to design sculptures and functional art that lives in the elements, all made from welded steel. We will learn the basics of tool use in the metal shop including multiple ways of cutting and shaping steel, how to weld, how to use a plasma torch, and how to safely use handheld power tools. We will also learn about metal sculpture with found materials and special safety considerations seen in common forms of outdoor sculpture. Students will take home one small garden sculpture and one final project of their own design. Teaching Artist: Eugene Kemper
