About this event

Description

@ Appleton Field Community Garden (251 Clapp Road). Blue Zones are communities in the world that have been identified as having people who live well past 100 years. One of the factors that contributes to their healthy longevity are their plant based diets incorporating essential amounts of proteiins, immune supporting herbs, whole grains and nutrient dense vegetables. In this one day hands on outdoor class, we will identify the 5 essential Blue Zone crops to grow and their nutritional importance that fosters longevity. As we plant, we will learn garden companion planting design, succession planting and soil amendments to ensure an abundant and healthy harvest. Each particpant may take home seeds or seedlings to start their own Blue Zone Garden. Instructor: Sally Rossi Ormon. Rain date 5/10.
