The City of Santa Monica is excited to bring you the American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Classes. This course is for participants 15 years and older who would like to become a certified Lifeguard. We combine in-depth online learning with detailed class instruction, demonstration and practice.
This is a Blended Learning course. All participants must have access to the Internet. Students must attend all classes, complete all online segments and turn in weekly progress reports to pass. In addition, students must also execute all skills assessments and score 80% or higher on the written exams.
Course Prerequisites:
- Must be 15 years old.
- Swim 150 yards nonstop using front crawl and breaststroke, then Tread water for 2 minutes, then Swim 50 yards.
- Retrieve 10 lb. weight from deep water and then Swim 20 yards with the weight using legs only.
