Description
BiciChella is a collaborative effort between the City’s Public Works Transit Division and Recreation and Parks City Rangers, promoting alternative transportation through engaging recreational opportunities. The event takes place from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and promotes the downtown Transit Center as a vibrant community space while fostering partnerships with local bicycling, health, and fitness organizations.
Attendees can enjoy music, educational booths from local clubs, free bike repairs courtesy of Bici Centro, transit bus demonstrations, complimentary bus rides for cyclists, and limited refreshments. BiciChella encourages residents to explore biking and public transit as convenient and sustainable ways to get around Santa Maria.
The featured “Ride with a Ranger” bike ride will depart from the Transit Center, 400 E. Boone Street, at 10:30 a.m. and is open to riders of all ages and skill levels. This scenic, three-mile round-trip ride will travel to Joe White Park and back. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and helmets. Riders under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet, and free helmets will be distributed by City Rangers while supplies last.
“Ride with a Ranger” is part of CycleMAYnia, a countywide series of bicycle-themed events coordinated by the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) in recognition of National Bike Month.
The City of Santa Maria is committed to supporting a healthier, more connected community by providing safe and active recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. Pre-registration for the loop ride is free and required by visiting: www.cityofsantamaria.org
