This intensive six-week course covers a full year of Honors Algebra 2 & Trigonometry content. It is designed for students who want to prepare for Algebra 2 + Trigonometry in high school, or to seek a potential exemption from the Grade 9 Algebra 2 + Trigonometry course and start in a higher course such as Precalculus or Honors Precalculus. Students will take a deeper, more rigorous look at functions and their real-world applications, including linear, quadratic, polynomial, exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions. The course also covers key foundations in probability and statistics. Course expectations include two to three hours of required, graded homework each day, self-study practice, and multiple assessments. Students will complete a cumulative final exam. Students must bring a TI-84 (preferably TI-84 Plus CE) graphing calculator to class each day. Students must enroll in one of two program options: For-Credit or Not-for-Credit. Please review the criteria below carefully and select the appropriate option during enrollment. For-Credit Rising Grade 9 & 10 students may take this course for credit to proceed to Honors Precalculus if they meet both requirements below: Earned 90% or higher in their prior-year math course (Honors Geometry or higher), and Earn a cumulative grade of 95% or higher in Summer Honors Algebra 2 & Trigonometry. The cumulative grade will appear on the student’s progress report and/or transcript. Not-for-Credit This option is intended for students who completed Honors Algebra 2 & Trigonometry during the academic year and would like to strengthen and reinforce their understanding of the course content over the summer. The cumulative grade for this option will not appear on a student’s progress report or transcript.
