GENETICS AND GENOMICS Activity Organizer: Min Hu, Radhika Sharma Email: bisvgeneticsandgenomics@gmail.com, sradhk@hotmail.com Dates: Mondays Time: 4:00 PM–5:00 PM Grades: 6–12 Cost: Description: This club will focus on the study of genetics and genomics, primarily, the structure and function of genes at a molecular level, genes, genetic variation, and heredity in living cells. Students will also learn about the study of the function and structure of genomes using recombinant DNA, sequencing, and bioinformatics. Throughout the duration of the club, students will master these concepts via numerous engaging hands-on labs that will teach students techniques such as PCR, cell culturing, etc. At the end of the year, students will be able to compile all knowledge learned during the club into a final project. These final projects, which have the potential to explore numerous topics within genetics and genomics, will be presented at a club-wide expo.
