AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY Activity Organizer: Mayuri Pochiraju Email: Mayuri.Pochiraju@basisindependent.com Dates: 2nd and 4th Friday of each month Time: 4:00 PM–4:30 PM Grades: 6–12 Description: The American Cancer Society (ACS) actively engages with schools to provide cancer education programs, resources, and support. Their initiatives focus on raising awareness about cancer prevention and early detection, particularly in relation to tobacco and vaping prevention. They collaborate with schools for research studies, offer support for students and families affected by cancer, and advocate for evidence-based policies. Through fundraising events, the ACS raises funds for cancer research, patient support, and community programs. Overall, their involvement aims to empower students with knowledge, promote healthy behaviors, and aid those impacted by cancer in the school community.
