Description
We're sorry, but this activity is over. The last meeting was Wednesday, May 17, 2023.
My name is Farzaneh Sajadi and I have been making things out of clay since 2005. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Design/ Visual Communication. I believe that working with clay helps students with their sensory development, motor skills, self-esteem, self-expression, problem solving skills and discipline. Clay also has a uniquely therapeutic quality that helps children to retain their attention for hours. Class description, AES Ortega This class is an introduction to hand-built pottery and ceramic sculpture. Students will learn a variety of hand building methods (slab, coil, and pinch), explore texture, glazing techniques, and see the transformation of their pieces from clay to ceramic through the heat of the kiln. Students will create the ceramic projects of their choice. Class projects may include sculptures that tell stories, fantasy animals, self-portraits, interiors and exteriors of buildings, jewelry, beads, cups, plates and more.
