About this event

November 01 - 08, 2020
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday

The remains of the most sophisticated prehistoric native civilization north of Mexico are preserved at Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. Within the 2,200-acre tract, located a few miles west of Collinsville, Illinois, lie the archaeological remnants of the central section of the ancient settlement that is today known as Cahokia.

The Cahokia Mounds Museum Society is a not-for-profit organization founded in 1976 to support the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site. Our mission is to promote for the public benefit the educational and scientific aspects of the Cahokia Mounds State Historic Site and associated archaeological sphere, and to support activities that are calculated to preserve, develop or interpret Cahokia Mounds.

Event details and schedule

Due to COVID-19 restrictions the race will be virtual this year. You will have from November 1st until November 8th to complete the race. Tshirt mailings will begin in October.

If you still want the experience of running at the site, our usual 5K trail will be set on Sunday November 8. It will be available from 9am until 4:30pm. There will not be any race support at that time.

  • All trail markings will be to your RIGHT as you travel.  These will be flags, paint, cones and stakes.
  • Remember, this is a trail and the surface is uneven and may be wet or muddy. Keep your eyes focused on the ground in front of you – roughly 5 feet, only glancing up for orientation.
