As one of the largest and most popular marathons in sunny California, the Big Sur is definitely the must-do marathon of your lifetime. While the race isn't known for being beginner-friendly, the entire event experience is worth the training. Staged entirely on the Pacific Coast Highway, runners will take in the Pacific Ocean on one side and the coastal mountains on the other.
