Rossignol brings decades of mountain experience to trail running with footwear designed around comfort, control, and confidence across changing terrain. The Venosk takes that outdoor expertise and packages it into a lightweight trail shoe built to move seamlessly between everyday training and longer adventures.
Rather than feeling overly technical or aggressive, the Venosk focuses on balance. Cushioning, ground feel, traction, and protection work together to create an approachable trail runner that feels equally comfortable during daily trail miles and longer off-road efforts.
Rossignol Venosk
The Rossignol Venosk is a lightweight, cushioned trail shoe designed for everyday training across mixed terrain. Its injected EVA midsole delivers underfoot protection while a 6mm drop and relatively low-profile platform help preserve the connection between runner and trail.
Rossignol pairs that cushioning with a Sensor all-terrain rubber outsole, protective toe cap, breathable jacquard mesh upper, and Sensor3 technology designed around comfort and support. The result is a trail shoe that feels protective without becoming bulky or disconnected from the terrain.
Rossignol has created my new favorite trail shoe! Comfortable, lightweight, snug, and responsive, the Venosk is a versatile daily trainer that you may love so much you take it to race day!
First Impressions
The Venosk impressed immediately with its secure fit and comfortable ride. The shoe felt snug without being overly restrictive, while the cushioning offered enough protection to soften trail impact without eliminating ground feel.
Its lightweight construction also stood out from the start. Rather than feeling like a bulky trail shoe, the Venosk maintained a responsive and nimble sensation that encouraged faster movement across varied terrain.
Things We Liked
The balance between cushioning and trail feel is one of the Venosk's biggest strengths. There is enough protection underfoot to remain comfortable over longer distances, but the shoe still provides the feedback and control needed to confidently navigate uneven terrain.
The breathable jacquard mesh upper conforms comfortably around the foot, while the flat laces provide dependable lockdown without creating unnecessary pressure. The toe box allows natural foot movement, and the protective toe cap provides welcome defense against rocks, roots, and other trail debris.
Traction was another highlight during testing. The outsole provided dependable grip across varied terrain and performed well in wet conditions. When the shoe did get wet, it drained quickly enough to maintain comfort.
Areas for Improvement
The heel cup was not quite as secure as the rest of the shoe for our tester. Using a heel-lock lacing technique helped reduce excess movement and improved overall stability.
Fit may also require some attention. The tester found the shoe particularly well suited to a longer, narrower foot, while runners needing additional space may want to carefully evaluate sizing. Rossignol's men's product page currently recommends sizing up because that version can fit smaller than usual.

Final Thoughts
The Rossignol Venosk is an impressive entry from a brand that many runners may still associate primarily with skiing and mountain sports. It combines lightweight construction, comfortable cushioning, responsive trail feel, and dependable traction into a package that feels remarkably natural on the trail.
What makes the Venosk particularly appealing is that no single feature overwhelms the experience. The cushioning protects without becoming excessively soft, the outsole grips without feeling overly aggressive, and the upper secures the foot without making the shoe feel heavy or restrictive.
For trail runners looking for a versatile daily trainer capable of stretching into longer runs and race-day efforts, the Venosk deserves serious consideration. Rossignol may be relatively new to the running conversation, but this shoe shows the brand already understands what makes a dependable trail runner work.
