Diets Are Out. Wellness Is In.

In fact, a whole movement has arisen in the wellness community that hopes to discredit the idea that weight is the only predictor of health and wellness. Health at Every Size (HAES)  argues that healthy initiatives can, and should, be taken without any consideration to size.

Work Sustainable Activity Into Your Day

You've no doubt heard someone say, "I'm just trying to be more active," as they log 10,000 daily steps on their FitBit.

That's because, much like with dieting, being active is now less about coming up with the perfect, calorie-burning mix of strength and cardio and more about finding a sustainable exercise routine that feels good to you.

Working out solely to lose weight often means engaging in physical exercise you don't enjoy, at extreme efforts. This creates a negative association with exercise, making it difficult to maintain.

Try focusing on moving your body in ways you enjoy, whether that’s an evening stroll, 20 heart-pumping minutes in the weight room or training for your first 5K

Remember: Perfection is out, and striving for it can do more damage than good. Instead, focus on making progress that you can sustain for a lifetime.
