In the middle of summer, the last thing many people want to do is take a long run out in the blazing sun. Luckily, some organizers will help you get your race fix with events that happen in the evenings. Take advantage of a fun atmosphere with cooler temperatures in one of these eight midsummer night races for 2015.
Firefly Run Atlanta

Runners and walkers of all speeds are welcome at this 5K night race. Decorate yourself in bright colors, lights, or whatever you want that makes you shine. The post-race party will have live entertainment, refreshments and visual effects. The Firefly Run benefits local charities.

Hamilton Co Glow Run—Glow4Cure

Anything neon glows in this hike and bike trail system--even glow body paint will be available. This is a fun run/walk 5K that raises funds to support the local American Cancer Society and the Relay for Life of Hamilton County.

Race for the Fallen—5K Glow Run

This nighttime race is for families of all ages. Wear neon and cover yourself in lights to illuminate this evening event. The Police Benevolent Foundation's Race for the Fallen was created to honor the hardworking and dedicated members of the law enforcement community.

REV3Glow Run 2015

The REV3 Glow Run has multiple events throughout the country (link for those). The one in Williamsburg gives runners a chance to light up in the night in a town known for being traditional. Everyone is welcome to dress up and carry glow sticks through the 5K or one-mile fun run.

2015 Summer Solstice Endurance Runs

This eighth-annual event is a chance to see just how far you can run on a warm summer night in West Texas. All runners and walkers start at 9 p.m., completing a five-mile race or seeing how far they can run during the race's three- or six-hour timed events.

Young Life Glow Run

This is the second year for this event that features an untimed 5K fun run. The course takes participants through Green Bay's downtown district before hitting the Fox River Trail. The WIXX After Party starts at the finish line with glow zones and music. Runners and walkers can show up decked out in glow gear to light up the night. All proceeds benefit kids attending Young Life Camp.

Lei 5K Night Run/Walk

This event is earlier in the evening and coincides with the Lei Fest featuring the band the Rusty Griswolds. The Lei 5K is introducing chip timing this year and welcomes runners of all ages. The event benefits the Neurosurgery Department at Cincinnati Children's Hospital and the Neurosurgery Fitzpatrick Chiari Foundation.

Fun Ruck and Kill That 5K

This evening 5K has fun run and competitive components. Participants can carry a weight with them for the chance at special prizes. Free beer awaits at the after party when runners complete the run/walk. GORUCK has partnered at the national level with Team Red, White and Blue to support its mission of enriching the lives of America's veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity. GORUCK will donate $5 from every paid registration to Team RWB.
