2015 Fourth of July Races

Thanksgiving isn't the only holiday you can get active with your family—try a 5K or longer distance run this Fourth of July before the festivities begin. Here are 10 patriotic runs going on in the country, but if you don't see your hometown, you can find more races here.

YMCA Independence Day 5K

This annual Virginia Beach, Va., event is celebrating its 31st year. Runners and walkers of all ages are welcome to dress up in red, white and blue and kick off their holiday celebrations on the road. Money from registrations benefit community members by funding childcare, swim lessons, health and wellness programs, youth and teen activities, older adult programs and summer camp.
Firecracker 4 Miler

This four-mile course winds through the beautiful and historic parks and museums of downtown Fayetteville, N.C., highlighting what the city has to offer both visitors and locals. Dogs and strollers can join in the fun on this one.
We the Runners Half Marathon, 10/5K and Sparkler Trot

Race organizers for this event have claimed, "it has become necessary for we, the runners of North Georgia, to choose our own race." So, go ahead, take your pick in this multi-distance event. Part of the proceeds benefits the Forsyth County Parks and Recreation Foundation.
Music City July 4th 5/10K

This race goes through the beautiful scenery of Boulder, Colo. and after the short run, participants are served breakfast. Those who are 21 and older can also start celebrating early, if they choose, with an Avery beer.

Complete a 5 or 10K while dedicating your effort to those who dedicate their lives to preserving our freedom. This is a virtual race so you can show your support wherever you celebrate the Fourth of July. A portion of the race proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project.
