Description

In this presentation, Dr. John N. Low, a citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians, will share the history, beauty and power of the black ash baskets created by members of his community. Guests will also explore the black ash baskets in the temporary exhibition Low organized, “Our Storytellers: Pokagon Potawatomi Black Ash Baskets,” on display at Isle a la Cache Museum from Wednesday, July 1 to Sunday, Aug. 30.

Low received his Ph.D. in American culture from the University of Michigan and is an enrolled citizen of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians. He is also the recipient of a graduate certificate in museum studies and a juris doctorate from the University of Michigan. He is an award-winning author and now a professor emeritus from the Ohio State University and former director of the Newark Earthworks Center. Isle a la Cache Museum is an accessible facility.
