Word Play Prepare for 7th and 8th grade writing through Word Play! Participants will meet new friends and sharpen grammar, composition, and vocabulary skills through exciting interactive exercises, lessons, and writing a Beginner Clay Explore the world of clay, kilns and glaze. In this offering, participants will embark on a nature hike to inspire their own handmade flower pots and sculpture which will all be glazed and fired in a kiln at 2,000 degrees! Code Breakers Experience the exciting world of robots and Legos! This camp is designed to introduce participants to robot building, programming, and challenges. Campers will learn the basics of building and programming a robot. They will develop collaborative skills while working in teams to research a real world problem and develop some type of innovative solution. It’s an interactive and super fun way to gain knowledge about coding and robotics! Weekly Enrichment Special Topics Week 3: June 28-July 2, 2021: Getting in Touch with Nature Participants will use the outdoors as their classroom (including Magnificat’s Hoop House garden) as their eyes are opened to the world around them and they learn how to respect and care for all living things. Under the guidance of Karen Ryan Tigue ’85, Magnificat Horticulture Program Manager and owner of Karen for your Garden, they’ll have fun and be inspired to become environmentally responsible while learning about plants, pollinators, flowers, and herbs. Options for Enrichment at no cost: High School Placement Test Administration Rising 8th graders enrolled in Enrichment Camp are invited to take the HSPT on Tuesday, June 29 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Register by June 15. There is no cost. Join Us for a Tour of Magnificat! Thursday, July 1 Tours begin in the Performing Arts Center lobby at 10:45 a.m.; There is no cost; however, registration is required.
