FREE TO SUBMIT YOUR WORK FOR CALL FOR ENTRIES
Speak your truth at When the Rainbow Is Enuf, Rocky Mount's premiere poetry and spoken word contest honoring Ntozake Shange's iconic "For Colored Girls." This free poetry and spoken word contest invites artists to explore Shange's seven themes—orange for survival, yellow for awakening, blue for breaking cycles, purple for speaking the unspeakable, and the rainbow for discovering you are enuf. Submit original poetry or spoken word performances engaging with themes from Shange's choreopoem—from coming of age and survival to trauma and radical self-love. Compete across divisions for cash prizes up to $500 and featured performances and a community where the rainbow of your full humanity is celebrated and enuf.
